Sand, Sea, Scoldings..and a whole lotta other S-es..

Well, 6 days since i last blogged...

No worry sPh3r3-fans...i'm still here...haven't vanished, and well, i'd say it's been an interesting few days =)

Sentosa with the lads on Friday was wonderful and fun-filling.
Played alot of soccer on the beach as well as checking out girls (note: not many, less than 10 acceptable ones...although the one who was wearing the pink bikini was CUTE! haha!)

Though Production Assistant work with ESPN isn't...
Screwed up big-time as i didn't have enough time to check through my story items aka video tapes. Ended up pissing good people/colleagues like Glenn and Margie off as we got 2 wrong tapes for Week-In-Review...
SORRY GUYS, WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN! I'll be in 6.30pm sharp every week! Latest: 7pm!

Moving on to Saturday...another S for you guys..Second-Rate...
That's the word to describe England's performance when they played Macedonia in their HOME game at Old Trafford, Manchester....

Spurred on the the LARGEST CROWD EVER to watch an England game, they toiled and toiled but to no avail with regards to action in the final 3rd.

Gary Neville (right-back) was hopeless, drifting out of position all the time and getting caught out by the Macedonians when they launch their counter attack..missed the BEST chance of the game as well...4/10 rating...

Moving on to Michael Carrick...was supposed to do Owen Hargreaves' job of breaking up opponents' attacking play and spreading the ball wisely(which is his forte)...but ended up NOT TACKLING PROPERLY and simply NOT PASSING THE BALL WITH HIS USUAL PRECISION. In other words, useless and inSignificant. Calls for Scott Parker to be brought on fell on deaf ears though, the passion, increased tempo and bite in midfield he COULD have brought to the fray remained a POTENTIAL...nothing else...rating for Carrick: 4/10...simply because firstly, everyone knows he's not a Roy-Keane kinda tackler..he's a dictator of play. But he failed to dictate play and let play go by him w/o stopping it...Parker could have done a lot better if he was on...

Rooney was, well, inept and thoroughly subdued throughout the entire 90minutes. Cries for Roo-naldo's magic to be turned on turned to wails from the England faithful, but nothing came out of the boy wonder who was rightly substituted by Jermaine Defoe on 70minutes. He dropped too deep for his own liking, and was doing a "Beckham" by running all over the park trying to win back possession for England. 10/10 for passion, commitment and work-rate..but 5/10 for his overall match performance. Steve McClaren said he needs games to find his magical touch back, I say rightly so..but not at the expense of England. Leave him on the bench and bring on Defoe to partner beanpole Crouch. Big man-small man combination works for me all the time + leaving Rooney out might just re-ignite the spark back in the boy who's ALMOST a man!

Overall, though England could not break down Macedonia, they still remain top of their group, tied with Israel on 7 points while Croatia, their opponents on Wednesday in Split, is 3rd with 4 points, having played 1 game less. They'll have to do better on Wednesday, England, or be prepared for a VERY HARD fight for qualification against the likes of Israel and Russia still to come!

So after the dramatic week-end, with not much hair left due to the mediocre performance put up by England on home soil, it's time for me to take a breather...

More updates to come as the week goes by, while i attempt to really find back my writing touch!
